COMMUNICATION

Building relationships between families and us is the foundation for a meaningful and positive experience for your child. Please inform us of any changes (e.g., one parent has to take a trip, illness in the family, moving, etc.) before they happen.

Friendly Family offers an “OPEN DOOR POLICY’. Parents can make unannounced visit to check on their child.

Please verify that your e-mail address on file is up-to-date and that you receive the school communications. Our E-mail: valleyvillage.friendlyfamily@gmail.com

ROUTINES

A predictable routine helps children develop a sense of competence and involvement in their world. We ask that you arrive by 8:30 to give your child enough time to get ready for the activities that the teachers have prepared for the group.

If it is necessary at any time during the year to arrive later in the morning or pick up earlier, please let us know in advance.

SIGN IN / SIGN OUT

Children must be signed in and out each day by parents or designated individuals (18 years and older) as required by the State of California’s Department of Social Services. If someone other than the parent will be signing a child in and/or out, we must have written permission on file.

FOOD AND DRINKS

We provide nutritious meals daily – breakfast, morning snack, hot lunch, and afternoon meal included with tuition. Filtered water is available for children any time. A sample menu is posted on the board. All children have the same food unless the child is allergic or follows a special diet. If it is the case, you need to send lunch box for your child your child’s full name on it. We have a refrigerator that accommodates lunches brought from home and a microwave oven if food needs to be heated. Any food allergies MUST be communicated in writing and marked on your child Health Form.

REST AND NAP

Each child in the program has a rest time after lunch. Families are responsible for providing small sized sheet, blanket, and pillow or sleeping bag. Sheets, blankets, sleeping bags will be sent home weekly to be laundered.

HEALTH MATTERS

The completed Physician Report must be in our files before your child first day at school. Parents are to submit medical forms each time the child is immunized throughout the year. If your child is under a physician’s care for any special health problem, is taking medication, or has any allergies, be sure that these items are noted.

The state immunization law requires all children to have an immunization record or Personal Belief Exemption from parents / guardians on file for preschool/school attendance.

The child’s nails must be trimmed. If your child, for any reason must use special lotions or ointments, these products must be unscented.

DIAPERING AND TOILETING

If children are using diapers, parents provide diapers clearly marked with their child’s full name, wipes, and creams (if needed). Children’s diapers are changed regularly. Potty training is provided.

CHILDREN’S CLOTHES

Comfortable, washable clothes are best for your children while they are in our center. Your child will need two changes of clothing. Child should wear non-skid closed toe shoes that afford maximum safety for both indoor and outdoor activities. Shoes with Velcro fasteners are preferable to laces as children can close them themselves, promoting dressing independence.

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS RELEASE

Permission to photograph and/or film a child either individually or as part of a group is assumed, unless you indicate otherwise in writing.
